One from cities that are still untouched by the fashion industry in Chennai. Come December, the city will witness the largest fashion weeks in the country, or so they claim! Chennai International Fashion Week (CIFW) will see the participation of more than 10 international designers from 12 countries around the world together with our talented designers to pile India. With a vision to provide an international platform for Indian designers to display and sell their collections to the world of global fashion, gala event scheduled for 14-20 December 2009 deluxe Le Royal Meridian in Chennai. It is also intended to show India as an important fashion destination for foreign buyers and designers who want to become big in the Southeast Asian market.
So why Chennai as the site? Gaurav Sharma, head of the Storm Fashion Company, organizers and show producer said on a lighter note, “the city has already alwaYS is known for hot weather, so we thought of making it haute! The first edition in Chennai has been strategically placed near Tirupur, one of the largest center of garment exports in India. Indian fashion designers 30th, 10 international guest designers, fashion shows 35, 60 models from India and abroad – all will be beaten up together in this event. The designers will present the latest fashion trends that will dominate Spring/Summer 2010-11. This event also will have 10 international beauty Pageant winners from various countries walked the runway! The event is supported by very strong board and professional achievement. Led by the marketing and professional services Gaurav Sharma, adviser to the team itself, including Chennai’s Shakthi Girsh, Pratap Pothen, Arun Mammen, Girish Ramdass and Meera Chopra. A few Indian designers who will participate include Men Kataaria Castle, Shane & Falguni Peacock, Vikram Phadnis, Sanchita Ajjampur, Aslam Khan, Satya Paul, Jason & Anshu, and Neeta Lulla Lulla Nishka. Designer Little Shop share a label, because we are based in Chennai and has a shop, we thought it would be good to be part of a major event. We will display our collection is called Spring-Summer-Na Ati. Men Kataaria Castle is scheduled to open the show with Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra as a stopper as shown. Grand finals will be done by designer Neeta Lulla and this event will also offer the platform to 10 new designers to present their talent.

Continue to move towards the main event, the organizers had planned All Models Auditions India in Bangalore on November 8, 2009 and the model will be critically assessed by a panel of judges consisting of Anupama Verma (Super Model, Actress & Fashion Producer), Mehar Bhasin (Choreographer/Grooming Fashion Expert), Pravin Talan (Celebrated International Photographer) Atul Kelkar (Consultant), Rahul Dev Shetty (Fashion Model/Choreographer). Says Mehar Bhasin, director of the show CIFW – This is my dream to perform in Chennai and CIFW has come as a unique platform with the concept of global fashion. Of the 35 shows, I will show the ten main choreographing. We wanted to have a fresh face with a catwalk-style good. Plus this is an opportunity to present the world with the debut of the model’s face. One juror, Rahul Dev Shetty added, During auditions, model, I’m looking for someone who, fresh, vibrant, young and confident. This model does not need to draw a beautiful body but the attitude to have, good and proportionally higher, he signs off.
