DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa storm as a presidential candidate to make a boost this weekend, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is getting increased attention because of polls showing for the first time that he could finish strong here and have a huge impact on the GOP race, reports Jan Crawford political correspondent for CBS News.
“People know what I believe,” said Santorum. “That’s what they’re looking for: someone who can be trusted, authentic.”
It is a remarkable and rapid rise to the former senator from Pennsylvania. During the month, as the other candidates who were not named Mitt Romney surged, then fell back, Santorum struggling to get attention even in the debates.
But after spending more than 100 days campaign in Iowa, Santorum said he always believed the message will break through.
“I believe the people of Iowa,” said Santorum. “I believe that we are bringing something different to the debate.
